Our team
Behind HYBPIC is a multidisciplinary team with proven experience in turning science into impact.
Dr. Gloria Micó
Gloria Micó is CEO and co-founder of HYBPIC, where she leads the company’s strategy to bring cutting-edge hybrid photonic chip technology to market. With over 10 years of experience in integrated photonics, she combines a strong technical background with a clear business vision.
After completing a PhD focused on photonic integrated sensors, she led R&D collaborations with companies in the field of LIDAR. At HYBPIC, she has been key to transforming hybrid integration processes into a scalable, industry-ready technology, now powering the company’s next-generation chip products.
Prof. Pascual Muñoz
Prof. Muñoz has developed research on photonic integration since 2005 at Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), adopting an application oriented and technology-agnostic approach, working on SOI, InP, SiN and hybrid platforms. He co-founded VLC Photonics, a UPV spin-off in 2011, transferring PIC design expertise and tools to industry, and served as its CEO until 2013 and as board member up to 2023. VLC Photonics was acquired by Hitachi High Tech in 2020. In 2017, he led the creation of UPVfab, the semiconductor microfabrication R&D and pilot line cleanroom facility. He co-founded HYBPIC in 2025 to commercialize the hybrid integration technologies developed at UPVfab.
Prof. Daniel Pastor
Daniel Pastor is Full Professor at Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and Chief Scientific Officer at HYBPIC, a spin-off company founded in 2025 from the UPVfab research group. With over three decades of experience in integrated photonics, his research has focused on hybrid integration technologies (Si/III-V, SiN) and their transfer to high-impact industrial applications.
He has established technology partnerships with companies such as FYLA (pulsed laser sources), OmmatidiaLiDAR and Huawei (LiDAR photonic modules), and LuxQuanta (quantum communication systems), and collaborated with VLC Photonics, a UPV spin-off later acquired by Hitachi High-Tech. His contributions have led to the licensing of multiple patents and the industrial deployment of photonic devices with advanced functionalities.
Since 2025, he has been involved in the Chips JU PIXEurope Pilot Line Node (2025–2035) through UPVfab, promoting the transition from research prototypes to scalable industrial platforms. At HYBPIC, he leads the scientific and technology roadmap, driving innovation in integrated amplifiers, lasers, and photonic sensors with clear commercial focus.
Eladio Crego
With over 20 years of experience in entrepreneurship, financial planning, investment evaluation and negotiation, and technology commercialization, Eladio has played a key role in the growth of numerous high-tech startups.
He has held C-level positions in companies such as iPRONICS, SPARC, Qubiotech, Mtrap Inc., Nasasbiotech, and Torusware, contributing to their strategic development and market positioning.
Eladio holds a BA from the University of Santiago de Compostela, an MBA from Abanca Business School, and completed the Program for Management Development (PMD) at ESADE Business School. His expertise bridges the gap between scientific innovation and business scalability — a key asset for HYPIC’s growth and long-term impact.
